How do I get over the death of my friend?

He was KIA recently in Pakistan. He got shot in the eye. He meant the world to me and was very inspirational. He fought vigorously for his country and his beliefs. But now he's gone and I miss him dearly. He was like a father to me. Although they gave him a proper burial at sea which was nice since he was a man of such integrity. But how do I get over his death? It just hurts so much.
