Itchy, painful and sore irritation around the outer vaginal area?

Lately I been experiencing painful and itchy irritation in my vaginal area (on the outer side), I don't know what could be the cause of it. However, I shaved that area almost 2 weeks ago and I don't know if that could be the reason. I scratched it vigorously, only for it to get worse and red. It also hurts a little when I pee. What could be the cause of this? Any information would be helpful.
